Officially known as Bagan archaeological zone are scattered over an area of roughly 50 sq km (26 sq miles) 290km south west of Mandalay on the east bank of Ayeyawady river.
The lost city is the site of thousands of ancient pagodas, temples and monasteries.
3822 acient buildings are already recorded.

TaungKalat Pagoda which is adjacent to Mt Popa,is built on the top of a volcanic plug - a rock formation created magma seeping from a volcanic vent.
It is said there 777 steps leading to the summit, which offers stunning panoramic views.
Thousand of people visit Mt Popa each year, especially during full-moon festival days.
Mt popa is popular daytrip from Bagan ,and can be reached from there in about 90 minutes by car.
